The Grown-Up Test

Reimagining a childhood classic as a whimsical interactive quiz.

The Little Prince is an animated interpretation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s 1943 children’s classic, airing exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. The book was written for children, but its existential themes have resonated with adults for decades. We were tasked to create one of the biggest promotional pieces for the film: a test that would encapsulate the dichotomy between the pressures of children to grow up and the nostalgia adults feel for a simpler childhood, while retaining the soft and sweet atmosphere of the film.

We created a simple test that profiles how grown-up you are. By combining 11 different questions – ranging from multiple choice to activities like watering roses and connecting dots with a pencil – the test taker could be rated as being Not At All, Just Barely, Only Slightly, Almost Fully, or Quite Completely Grown-Up. To envelope the test taker in the charming world of The Little Prince, we created original illustrations based on the themes and characters from the book and film.
